Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of compscai.com (the "Site"), operated by compscai ("compscai", "I", "me"). By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
1. The Site
compscai is an informational site that publishes notes, articles, and write-ups on computation and applied computer science, and lets visitors post responses to those posts. Content is provided for general informational and educational purposes only and is offered in good faith; it may contain errors and is not professional advice.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Site. If you are under 18, you must have a parent or guardian's permission.
3. User-submitted content
When you post a response, you remain responsible for it. You represent that you have the right to post it and that it does not violate the law or anyone else's rights. By posting, you grant compscai a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and distribute that content on the Site. I may edit, remove, or decline to publish any submission at my discretion, for example, spam, abuse, or content that violates Section 4.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Site for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
- Post content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, hateful, infringing, or malicious (including attempts to inject scripts or code intended to harm other visitors).
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Site, the underlying servers, or other visitors' data.
- Scrape, harvest, or replicate Site content without my prior written permission.
- Interfere with the Site's operation (e.g. via automated bots, denial-of-service attempts, spam, or malware).
5. Intellectual property
The Site, its design, text, code samples, and brand name are owned by compscai or my licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws, except for content you submit (which remains yours, subject to the license in Section 3) and any third-party material identified as such. You may not reuse my content without permission, except for brief quotations with attribution.
6. Disclaimers
THE SITE AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. I do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components, or that any information on it is accurate or complete.
7. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, COMPSCAI SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF THE SITE. THE SITE IS PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE, AND MY TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM SHALL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100).
8. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless compscai and its operators from any claim or demand arising out of your breach of these Terms, the content you post, or your misuse of the Site.
9. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which the Site operator is located, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts of that jurisdiction, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
10. Changes
I may modify these Terms at any time. The revised Terms become effective when posted. Your continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance.
11. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.
12. Contact
Questions about these Terms can be raised by posting a response on any post on the Site; the operator reviews responses and will follow up there.
